Sometimes smaller is better.

In recent years, tattoos have become more and more popular. They are no longer just for sailors, bikers, and bad girls. In fact, almost half of all Americans now have at least one tattoo! If you're thinking about getting inked, you may be wondering what the latest trend is. Well, people are getting smaller and smaller tattoos these days – and we're not just talking about a little heart on the ankle. We're talking about microscopic designs that can barely be seen with the naked eye. They are called micro tattoos, and they are taking the tattoo world by storm.

WHAT ARE MICRO TATTOOS?

Micro tattoos are tiny designs that are usually less than an inch in size. They can be as small as a quarter of an inch! That's smaller than a dime! Because they are so small, they can be placed in a variety of locations on the body. Popular spots for micro tattoos include behind the ear, on the fingers, on the wrist, and even in between the toes!

Everything you need to know about micro tattoos.

Above we covered what IS a micro tattoo, but lets dive a little deeper in to some more things a potential client should know. in the sections below.

Why are micro tattoos so popular?

Micro tattoos are gaining popularity amongst celebrities and influencers because of their delicate nature and their ability to hide in plain sight.

Tiny tattoos are very appealing to people who want to express themselves through tattoos but might not want to go for a larger design.

Do micro tattoos last?

Micro tattoos are small and delicate, so they are prone to fading and can easily be damaged by sun or wear and tear over time. On top of that, the shape of the micro tattoo may change as the skin ages and stretches, and the ink may blur. Because the design is originally so small, these normal changes are much easier to see than with a larger tattoo.

That said, there are still ways to keep them looking their best. Clients can use sunscreen and avoid things that might damage the tattoo like exposing it to chemicals or too much wear and tear. Touch-ups can also be helpful.

Why get a micro tattoo?

Micro tattoos are the perfect option for those looking to add a touch of ink to their lives without the commitment of a traditional tattoo.

These tiny, intricate designs offer endless possibilities for placement, design, and personalization. Plus, with proper healing and maintenance, micro tattoos can be a beautiful and long-lasting addition to your personal style.

How do I maintain my new ink?

Regular touch-ups are usually necessary in order to ensure the color of your micro tattoo remains vibrant over time. Depending on the size, location and style of your micropigmentation, you might need a touch-up once every 6 months or so. This helps replenish any fading colors and also sharpens the lines if they have become blurred by age or sun exposure.

It's important to go back to the same artist who did your initial work in order to keep the colors consistent; however, if that artist is unavailable for whatever reason then be sure to bring an image of your original work with you when consulting a new one.
